The Arts Place
The Arts Place was created by actor and theatre practitioner, Emily Plumtree.
Emily trained as an actress at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, gaining a 1st Class Honours Degree in Acting. She has worked as an actor for The National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company and most recently leading The Mousetrap in London’s West End.
When working as an actor for The Royal Shakespeare Company, Emily completed a Post-Graduate Award in Teaching Shakespeare accredited by The Royal Shakespeare Company and Warwick University. It was working with young people and getting them excited about Shakespeare by bringing the words to life through drama that ignited Emily’s passion for teaching.

“Seeing the positive effect of drama on young people in building their confidence and helping them to express themselves, I wanted to create a space for children to come and get excited about drama and performing. We started with one after-school drama club and we now reach over 300 children every week with our regular school clubs and classes as well as hundreds of children throughout the year at our Drama Camps run during the school holidays.”
